AKC S.T.A.R Puppy classes go beyond what you would learn in a simple obedience class. This six-week program is taught by a certified AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Trainer and gets to the root of what puppies need to know to live successfully beside humans. Classes cover topics including:

• Exposing your puppy to new experiences
• Socialization, both with humans and other dogs
• Handling your puppy
• Learning to use the leash and harness
• Crate training
• Potty training tips
• And more!

Above all, the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Class teaches you how best to teach your dog. Every dog is unique, and learning to read their signals is essential to building solid, long-term communication. Building this foundation will make training much easier and more effective in the future!

The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy class is also the first step in the Canine Good Citizen certification. Going on to complete this certification not only will set your puppy up for success, but can potentially have day-to-day benefits, such as easing some breed restrictions, reduced or waived pet fees, and more!

Mary

My name is Mary Price, the owner of MP Dog Training Academy. I have ten years of dog training experience with puppy training, dog obedience, behavior modification, and introduction to agility and rally. In my journey to become a certified dog trainer, through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), I have taken a variety of classes to reinforce and build upon my skills to resolve unwanted behaviors, to teach obedience, and dog sports to help dog owners develop a better connection with their dog to enrich their lives.

As a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) I am committed to becoming a better trainer through continued education as I strive to continually improve my experience and qualifications. With a tireless dedication to educating dog owners to discover the benefits of basic obedience training, I am paving the way for the owner and dog to build a working relationship that helps them learn new activities or sports as they move from basic obedience to sporting actives.
